The agate intaglio is engraved with the image of Minerva holding a small figure of winged Victory.

The agate intaglio is ancient Roman, 1st - 2nd century AD.

The high carat gold ring is modern.

The ring weighs 7.6 grams.

The specimen of agate used by the engraver was undoubtedly used for its apotropaic ‘eye’ like qualities which were used as amulets for protection against the evil eye.
