A silver vesica seal depicting a bird of prey perched upon a gloved hand.

French or English, 14th - 15th century.

Measures 2.5 x 1.9 x 0.7cm.

Weighs 5.2 grams.

The central cartouche is deeply engraved with a gloved hand holding a bird of prey. The surrounding inscription reads ‘FRANGE LEGE TEGE’, which roughly translates as “Break the seal, Read the contents then Hide the deed”. The reverse with pendant loop and collection number ‘5222’.
