A gold pendant with engraved crucifix.
Byzantine Empire, 5th - 7th century AD.
Measures 3 x 1.5 x 0.4cm.
Weighs 1.9 grams.
This navette-shaped hollow pendant features finely reeded sides and a front adorned with a repoussé crucifix, framed by a delicate double-lined border. The reverse bears a small aperture revealing the pendant’s interior, suggesting it may have once held a reliquary. The suspension loop is hinged and secured with a metal pin — original and in fine condition.
