A Small Casket with Alla Certosina Marquetry.
Embriachi Workshop, Northern Italy, late 15th - early 16th Century.
Dimensions: 12.5 × 8.5 × 8.5 cm.
A finely crafted rectangular casket, the surface intricately inlaid in the alla certosina technique using wood, bone, and stained bone, arranged in repeating diamond motifs. The hinged lid is surmounted by a twisted brass handle, while the front retains its original brass hasp and lock plate. The underside is decorated with a bold chevron pattern. A refined example of Embriachi workshop production, combining ornamental precision with Gothic architectural sensibility. There is restoration to the far left and two far right diamond inlays on the front lower frieze.
